From sanctuary,
to the heart of the arts.

Originally constructed as a Presbyterian church in 1906, The Castle Beloit has undergone a remarkable transformation over the decades. Evolving from a place of worship to a vibrant hub for the arts & community engagement.

Located at 501 Prospect Street, this 30,000 square foot Rock County-based landmark is a stunning sanctuary for both Beloit residents and visitors.

Currently an event venue, 14-room private rooms, recording studio, and home to The Golden Hour bar, The Castle Beloit serves as a diverse gathering place where all are welcome. Its soaring spires and timeless beauty stand as a testament to the enduring power of art, music, and community.

A CREATIVE EVOLUTION

In the early 1900s, The Castle was about 15,000 square feet. In 1954, a fallout shelter was added, doubling the square-footage. In November 2012, John and Jody Wittnebel purchased the historic downtown landmark. With a passion for the arts and a commitment to their community, they spearheaded meticulous refurbishment efforts, personally undertaking much of the restoration work with help from family and friends. Together with the community they saved the building from crumbling down due to a bad roof and a missing truss.

For the next decade, The Castle hosted a variety of events including weddings, corporate off-sites, and film festivals, and served as the main location for the Wittnebel-founded Youth Unite: a non-profit organization for bully prevention through music, the arts, and education.

FOCUSING ON THE FUTURE

In December 2023, The Castle entered a new chapter under the ownership of Seattle native, 5BAR owner, and expert event coordinator, Levi Andersen. Andersen's vision for the future builds upon the foundation laid by the Wittnebels, aiming to expand the venue's offerings while preserving its historic charm. With ever-evolving plans to enhance the space with new amenities and experiences, Andersen seeks to ensure that The Castle remains a vibrant cultural centerpiece for generations to come.

Today, The Castle serves as a beacon for creativity and expression, offering a diverse range of programming that caters to artists, performers, and audiences of all ages.
